Series Saturday: Strange Angels

Welcome to another Series Saturday!

Recently, I re-read the Strange Angels series by Lili St. Crow (aka, Lilith Saintcrow). I absolutely loved the series when it came out, and still adore it today. It’s one of the best YA series I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Honestly, these books made me remember why I love reading YA, and because of that, I found other series (such as Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamer series) that I highly enjoy and recommend as well (but that’s another post!).

Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)

Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whoever—or whatever— is hunting her?

Poor Dru Anderson. Her parents are long gone, her best friend is a werewolf, and she’s just learned that the blood flowing through her veins isn’t entirely human. (So what else is new?)

Now Dru is stuck at a secret New England School for other teens like her, and there’s a big problem— she’s the only girl in the place. A school full of cute boys wouldn’t be so bad, but Dru’s killer instinct says that one of them wants her dead. And with all eyes on her, discovering a traitor within the Order could mean a lot more than social suicide….

Can Dru survive long enough to find out who has betrayed her trust—and maybe even her heart?

It’s a good thing Dru Anderson is fast. Because the sucker chasing her isn’t slowing down—and he won’t rest until he has tasted her blood and silenced her heart….

Graves, Dru’s best friend, and Christophe, her strange and handsome savior, are ready to help her take on the ultimate evil. But will their battle for Dru’s heart get in the way of her survival?

Now that sixteen-year-old Dru’s worst fears have come true, she’ll have to go on a suicidal rescue mission to bring her best friend back in one piece. That is, if she can put all of Christophe’s training to good use, defeat her mother’s traitor once and for all, and manage to survive another day…

Nobody expected Dru Anderson to survive this long. Not Graves. Not Christophe. Not even Dru. She’s battled killer zombies, jealous djamphirs, and bloodthirsty suckers straight out of her worst nightmares. But now that Dru has bloomed into a full-fledged svetocha — rare, beautiful, and toxic to all vampires — the worst is yet to come.

Because getting out alive is going to cost more than she’s ever imagined. And in the end, is survival really worth the sacrifice?

Dru’s voice captured me from the very first word, and didn’t let go throughout the entire series. Graves and Christophe kept me reading as well, and their stories had me just as captivated.

If you love urban fantasy, YA, and a dash of romance, I highly recommend this series.

Ten months after the events with Josef Dragos, slayer Tuck Houston is in Iceland training with her strigoi guardian. The strigoi blood awakened in her gives her no choice but to do so. But her training is interrupted by the one Damned who keeps slipping out of her grasp—Penelope.

Series Saturday: Vampire Babylon

Happy weekend (and Happy Easter to those who celebrate!) 🙂 Welcome to another Series Saturday 🙂

The Vampire Babylon series by Chris Marie Green quickly became one of my favorite UF series after reading the first book. The series adds a nice little twist to the vampire myth, and the main character- Dawn Madison- is a fantastic lead. The secondary characters are wonderful, and their stories are each unique and just as interesting as Dawn’s.

In this first book of an all-new trilogy, life proves stranger than the movies when a Hollywood underground coven of vampires comes to light-and gets targeted by the tough-as-nails daughter of a sexy screen siren.

Stuntwoman Dawn Madison hasn’t been on the best of terms with her father since her movie star mother died. Still, he is her dad, and when he vanishes while investigating the bizarre sighting-caught on film-of a supposedly long-dead child star, she comes home to Tinseltown to join the search for him. Working with his odd colleagues, she discovers an erotic and bloody underground society made up of creatures she thought existed only on the screen.

Night Rising was only the beginning…

Dawn Madison reluctantly came to Los Angeles in search of her missing father and found instead a world of murder and the living dead she never imagined existed. When a new vampire slaying lures Dawn deeper into the underground, her alliances in the sunlit world shift. Now she has only herself to trust and her new found skills as “a spunky vampire slayer”

After facing off against the lethal Vampire Killer, Hollywood stuntwoman Dawn Madison and her friends are reeling. But for Dawn, the pain is much more personal. She?s learned more about her missing father and long-dead mother than she ever wanted to, and her conflicted feelings about both her enigmatic, never-seen boss, Jonah, and P.I. Matt Lonigan are only making things worse.

To save her father Dawn must enter the Vampire Underground, where she will encounter an unthinkable betrayal, and where the question of who is truly good and who is truly evil will become a matter of life, death, and undeath?

The above is the first trilogy in the series. What she discovers in the first three books about her parents and the vampires was captivating. The second trilogy in the series has new twists concerning the vampires and Dawn herself. I truly loved what Chris Marie Green brought to the second trilogy, which I’ve decided I won’t spoil in this post 🙂

When a new Vampire Underground is found in England, Hollywood stuntwoman-turned-vampire hunter Dawn Madison and her crack team are dispatched to carry the fight from the flash and dash of Los Angeles to the seemingly staid and stolid streets of London. Dawn knows by now how deceiving appearances can be-and she’s about to find out that it’s not only the beautiful people of Hollywood who are willing to bargain with evil.

Stuntwoman-turned-vampire hunter Dawn Madison is in London to find the local vampire Underground and wipe it out. But her own encounter with the bloodsuckers is beginning to affect her in some very sinister ways.

Dawn Madison has captured the master of the London Underground, but now must face her followers-a vicious pack of undead teenage girls who put the vamps in Los Angeles to shame.

If you love Urban Fantasy, and haven’t read these books, I highly recommend giving them a try. I don’t think you’ll regret it 🙂
